Designer's Workroom project featured in Architectural Digest Magazine!

November 2010
Well this month was full of surprises for all of us...we were featured in 2 high profile magazines all in the same month!! Check out the November 2010 issue of the Architectural Digest that is on news stands now and go to page 150, 151, and 157...all of the window treatments and bedding you see photographed were designed and made right here at our workroom in Plano Texas!!

Have you ever wondered how something so elaborate as the bed canopy featured in this article comes together?  It starts with a design or sketch that in this case was created by Designer's Workroom leading drapery designer, Jaclynn Cauthorn.  From start to finish, Jaclynn brought every detail to life from her original sketch.

The Process...
Once the sketch was approved, hours and hours of time was spent figuring how to build it in pieces so that it could be transported and assembled.  From there, tickets and work orders were created with explicit details written so that not one measurement would be missed.  Once everything was ready, Jaclynn & Donnie along with our team of installers headed to the Ranch and oversaw every aspect of the installation from start to finish.  I'd say the hard work and attention to detail payed off!

Fresh Look...Draperies, Valance, Windsong Woven Reeded Shade, Furniture Upholstery, & Custom Furniture Project- Plano, Texas

This bedroom was given a really nice makeover, that really brightened and gave the room a more uniformed and welcoming feel.  We replaced the dark wood shutters with a vanilla Conrad style natural woven reeded shade from the Wind Song Collection, then replaced the busy pattern draperies and valance with a bold blue stripe and gave the valance a cleaner and more updated look...we railroaded the fabric on the valance to give some added interest and really "frame" the window.  We also added a gathered dust skirt around the frame of the bed.  Re-upholstering the furniture really tied everything together, and adding a custom built ottoman with tufted top finished off the room really well.  Here are a few Before & After's....enjoy!

Transform your home...Natural Woven Grass Shades & Silk Draperies-La Tour, Dallas Texas

Greetings!
Well I have to share some pictures from a project that really "WOWed" me.  This was in a high-rise in downtown Dallas that had an incredible outside view, so she didn't want to loose the beautiful view but still needed something to cut out the heat and and give her apartment a warm & home-like feel.
I was so excited when she choose our Conrad-like natural woven grass shades from the Wind Song Collection and LOVED them!!  We completed the windows with dupioni silk draperies on custom wood drapery hardware from the Finial Company.  Take a look at these before and after pictures...

Swag Overlays, Cornice Valances, & Angel Wing Balloon Shade Project- McKinney Texas

Wow, am I behind on posts or what!  We have entered our "crazy" season...I would say "busy", but that word only applys for all the months before the beginning of fall.  Now is the time that everyone realizes "O my gosh, I need to decorate and get everything done before the holidays!" So if I don't post as much in the Fall you will know why :-)
These pictures are from a beautiful home we worked on in McKinney TX.  They have an absolutely STUNNING outside view that overlooks a lake, and didn't want to cover the windows but still wanted something to soften the room.  So we went with a cornice board valance that followed the shape of their existing windows, along with some elegant cascades to nicely frame the end of the windows...

Custom Drapes, Roman Shade, & Natural Woven Reeded Shade Project- Plano, TX

Just wanted to share some photos of a project we did and are continuing to work on in Plano, for an out of state designer that was an avid Conrad user.  She chose Vanilla as the color for the Wind Song Collection Natural Woven Reeded Shades, and her and the customer absolutely love them!  We then made custom tack top draperies that were lined and interlined and hung on custom stained wood poles.  In the kitchen, they chose to finish off the top with a very classic...Angel-Wing Roman Shade.

The "Wind Song Collection" Natural Woven Reeded Shades...

Any designer's out there familiar with the highly esteemed Conrad Shades? Well we have your answer to a much more cost effective natural woven reeded shade that still keeps the same high standard quality of the Conrads.
Drum-roll please...introducing The Wind Song Collection!!

The Wind Song Collection was born out of a personal frustration with the long turn around time and high cost of the Conrad Shades.  We have spent more than 10 years developing these shades to get every finishing detail down to an art, and to give our customers the highest quality woven shade at a very competitive price.

We manufacturer all of these shades right here at our workroom in Plano TX and lead times usually run 2-4 weeks from the time payment is received.  We have used these shades on extremely large residential projects where Conrads had previously been the designer's "shade of choice", and I can't tell you how many compliments we have gotten from designer's & customers alike.

The pattern looks just like the Conrads "Landscape Collection" and is equivalent to the double density.
We offer 4 colors...Vanilla, Almond, Caramel, & Toffee.
We have designers all over the United States that we ship to, and I can tell you not one of them is sorry they've switched.  Please contact us for more information or you can visit our website for more details and photos...http://www.windsongcollection.com/

Drapery & Roman Shade Project- Dallas TX

We have been working on a project in Preston Hollow that we wanted to share some pictures of.
This client has some really great taste and chose to do some really timeless window coverings including pleated drapes on custom iron rods with rings, goblet pleated drapes on custom painted wood rods with rings, ripple pleated draperies with blackout lining on custom iron rods with rings, and flat roman shades with a contrast banding on the hem.  We are still working on this home and will have some more pictures later, so check back in!
